After participating in this course, you will be able to:
- Better visualize subsurface materials and associated investigations
- More efficiently utilize public information such as drill hole databases and mapping
- Better utilize and design geophysical surveys and drilling
- Better oversee inference of strata, structures, and properties
- More efficiently support activities such as groundwater modelling and subsurface installations
Description
This course is on accounting for geological materials that host underground structures, foundations, waste disposal, groundwater, geothermal, fossil fuels, mineral resources, and geological research. Topics will include survey design, data compilation such as drill hole databases, data acquisition such as geophysical surveys, inference of strata and structures, specification of properties, heterogeneity, and uncertainty for sediments and rocks, as well as applications to energy, mineral, and water resources, engineering, waste disposal, and research.
