Description

Agencies around the world have long permitted the use of wastes and other by-products use in roadway construction. Some of these products are intended to improve the performance of the pavement or subgrade materials and others are used to reduce the cost of higher valued materials. Some agencies embrace the use of waste and by-product materials as contributing to the sustainability of our infrastructure and reducing green house gas emissions while others refer to their use in roadways as linear landfill.

This webinar provides a series of examples of waste and by-product use and a history of their performance for a variety of roadway applications. Advantages and disadvantages of the use of each type of product and some guidance for successful the design and construction of each.
