Description
Process equipment both stationary and rotating is known to involve variety of health and safety hazards in everyday operation and maintenance activities. It is the task of safety engineers and managers to address these hazards and evaluate the risks involved. Their task is also to transfer the knowledge to the operating and maintenance personnel about the best practices in dealing with the known risks in order to eliminate potential human error. Risk management is highly required to be carefully performed in order that risk control and mitigation measures will be adequately prescribed with the ultimate goal of the risk to be reduced to the acceptable minimum (ALARP)

This course will cover the most important practical elements of hazard identification and risk assessment and quantification techniques relevant to problems in everyday operation and maintenance activities. The focus will be on the methodology of making a good balance between tolerable risk and the cost required for mitigation measures. Several workshops will include the case studies and real examples from engineering practice. Each learning point will be reinforced with practical examples. There will be ample opportunities for active discussion and sharing and exchange of professional experiences that will help to solidify the gained knowledge. All course materials will be provided
