The reliable operation of pumps and the integrity of connected pipework is essential to the cost-effective operation of industrial facilities.  This course will describe the function of both positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, discuss the operational characteristics and explain the maintenance requirements.

Additionally, the course will discuss the various aspects of fluid flow in pipes and the requirements for the safe, compliant operation of pipe systems.

Mike Ivanovic, Dr.

Mike is President of UBAMIP Consulting, and also former Adjunct Associate Professor at U of Toronto. After working in the consulting group of ANSYS Canada Ltd., he now runs the private consulting company UBAMIP Consulting, dealing with analysis and problem solving in operation of vital stationary and rotating equipment in the process and petrochemical industry. Make has also been active in providing training technical courses of various levels of complexity for professionals in industry in Canada, USA and overseas.

His area of expertize among others, includes design, operation and maintenance of various types of heat exchangers such as coolers, reboilers, condensers, evaporators. The focus in the consulting projects has been on the process optimization and analysis of operational issues related to improving the overall thermal performance of equipment. This is also combined with risk assessment and selection of equipment failure prevention technologies based on fitness for service studies.
