Overview
After participating in this course, you will be able to:
- Manage your projects successfully by being familiar with the Construction Act, and understand the project closing procedure
- Enhance your knowledge of Construction litigation in Ontario.
- Achieve efficiency in your work towards completing the project within regulations and rules
Description
The amendments to the construction lien and holdback rules came into effect on July 1, 2018. New prompt payment and adjudication processes, and amendments related to liens against municipalities, came into effect on October 1, 2019.
This course will discuss what you need to know in relation to the Construction Act, it will also discuss the procurement process, project closing procedures and final project payments.

Project managers, directors of engineering, construction administrators, quality control/assurance personnel, project engineers, municipal inspectors, manager of engineering departments, construction executives, project engineers, construction supervisors, designers, development coordinators and foremen and other individuals responsible for core municipal infrastructures.
Special Feature
This unique course will focus on improving your knowledge base in the construction industry, including but not limited to substantial performance calculation, project completion and deemed completion calculations. The course will also focus on all project closing forms, publications and payments including procurement closing, even if the contract was abandoned or terminated.

Instructor
Firas Shugaa, BSc Arch, PMP, LEED AP, BCIN, REPFiras Shugaa is a Bachelor of architectural engineering since 1984 with years of experience in both design & construction as a senior project manager for award-winning projects, including ICI, medical and infrastructure construction using sound project management, functional, cost-effective project controls and quality procedures.
He is certified as an adult learning and continuing education teacher in Ontario colleges, delivering technical project management expertise combined with field practice. Firas is active in many chapters and professional associations, holding designations such as LEED AP BD+C, PMP, REP (Renewable Energy Professional) and Building Code Designer Part 3.
