Overview
This course is held online over 2 days on the following schedule (All times in Eastern Time Zone):
10 am to 1:45 pm ( 3.5 hours of instruction per day plus a 15-minute break)
This is an interactive course where you are working with the code as well as the instructor with real examples. Students are required to purchase and bring their copy of the 2020 National Building Code to the course. They should also be prepared to answer questions based on the NBC and participate in discussions.
After participating in this course, you will be able to:
- Interpret critical components of the National Building Code, focusing on Part 3 for Large Buildings.
- Identify and apply critical elements of the National Building Code to various building projects.
- Utilize objective-based codes to enhance compliance and reduce costs in construction projects.
- Implement best practices for building safety, minimizing risks, and enhancing occupant protection.
- Navigate construction rules and regulations to avoid potential legal issues and costly mistakes.
Description:
Understanding and applying the National Building Code is vital for anyone involved in designing and constructing large buildings. This course delves into the specific requirements of Part 3, which addresses large buildings such as assembly, high-hazard, care, and detention occupancies. You'll gain an in-depth understanding of the rules governing building safety, fire protection, and accessibility standards and how they apply to structures over three stories or 600 m².
Throughout this interactive course, you'll work directly with the code and engage in hands-on activities that bring theoretical concepts to life. Learn about critical topics such as fire protection, occupant safety, and emergency lighting. The course also covers combustible construction, building size and construction relative to occupancy, and additional requirements for high buildings, providing a comprehensive overview of the code's application.
By the end of this course, you will be equipped with practical skills to apply the National Building Code effectively in your projects. This hands-on approach ensures that you understand the code and are prepared to implement it confidently in real-world scenarios.
Please bring a copy of the current 2020 National Building Code, which will be essential for the exercises and discussions.
Who Should Attend
This course is ideal for building code professionals, architects, engineers, home inspectors, designers, developers, and building officials who must ensure compliance with the National Building Code.
It is also valuable for consultants, facility managers, and individuals involved in designing and constructing large buildings. Anyone responsible for safety, compliance, or construction quality in large structures will benefit from this in-depth exploration of the code's requirements and applications.
Students are required to purchase and bring their copy of the current 2020 National Building Code to the course. Students should also be prepared to answer questions based on the NBC. More InformationTime: 10:00 AM - 1:45 PM Eastern Time
