Instructor

Dr. Mehran Kafi Farashah has over 10 years of extensive experience in transportation and infrastructure asset management in the municipal sector. His expertise includes developing asset management plans, climate change adaptation, pavement design and material, asset valuation, data collection, condition assessment guidelines, pavement lifecycle cost analysis, asset condition prediction models, and risk-based planning and decision-making techniques to extend asset service life.
Dr. Farashah has led numerous research projects, such as developing and assessing new pavement structures and materials, evaluating pavement performance using both destructive and non-destructive methods, examining pavement preservation techniques, and utilizing instrumentation to monitor pavement behaviour. He has also presented and published several papers on asset management and pavement-related topics.

Dr. Vimy Henderson is a Principal Engineer at PTech Engineering Solutions Inc., in Ontario, Canada with over 16 years of experience.
She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Waterloo, studying the Evaluation of the Performance of Pervious Concrete Pavement in Canada. She and the team at PTech provide consulting to public and private agencies across Canada and internationally. Her work involves the design, performance, construction, and forensic evaluation of pavement infrastructure such as roads, highways, airfields, and industrial yards. She is an Adjunct Professor at McMaster University where she co-supervises students, lectures, and has technical and leadership roles in numerous research assignments.
She carries out research focused on the advancement of pavement infrastructure in Canada, considering resiliency and the changing environmental and user climate. She has published and presented her work with industry partners internationally.

Rabiah is a registered Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, and the Territories of Northwest Territories, Nunavut. Rabiah is a Principal Engineer at PTech Engineering Solutions Inc. and has 12+ years of experience in Pavement and Materials Engineering.
Her expertise includes flexible and rigid pavement designs using Transport Canada and Federal Aviation Administration methodology for airfield pavements, AASHTO 93, MEPDG and other methodologies for road pavements. She has extensive experience with structural condition evaluations, including FWD testing and GPR surveys, pavement rehabilitation design, life-cycle costing analysis, pavement construction, evaluation and management of pavements.
Rabiah is knowledgeable about various asphalt technologies, including conventional hot-mix asphalt, warm-mix asphalt, cold in-place recycling, hot in-place recycling, full-depth reclamation (FDR) and foamed asphalt stabilization. She has also implemented Pavement Management Systems for townships and municipalities in Ontario and at airports across Canada.

Dr. Sina Varamini has more than 10 years of experience working closely with different stakeholders within the road and airfield construction industry in the development and implementation of pavement solutions.
Dr. Varamini's expertise covers all aspects of pavements, including the design of new and rehabilitated pavement structures (highways, airfields, and seaports), construction, instrumentation, condition assessments, structural evaluation, subsurface investigations, and forensic evaluation, as well as the development of asset management programs.
