After participating in the course, you will be able to:

  • Balance a wide range of building maintenance and upgrading factors as you develop and improve your facility management system
  • Increase effectiveness of maintenance by mastering the essential details of the many diverse components that comprise a facility, all of which render a facility operational
  • Use on your projects your enhanced skills in contract and warranty administration
  • Apply your knowledge about indoor air quality, environmental issues, energy conservation and how to avoid problems in these areas before they surface and become unmanageable and costly

How to accomplish more while facing budget constraints is a challenge faced by many facility managers. At this course, you learn how to select among repair, refurbish or replace alternatives for building components to extend the useful life of the facility, reducing the number of break-downs and costly repairs, and minimizing system and equipment downtime.

Your expert instructor will explain in detail how to approach preventive maintenance systematically, in accordance with prescribed, recommended, and tested procedures.

Louie D'Orazio, P.Eng., B.Sc.Eng., M.Sc.Eng., MBA, MMP, Ph.D.

Dr. Louie R. D'Orazio, B.Sc.Eng., M.Sc.Eng., EMBA, MMP., Ph.D., P.Eng., has Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering, a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, an Executive MBA, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Management. Both his MBA and Ph.D., have the Thesis published in the US Library of Congress. He is a Professional Engineer and holds a Certificate of Authorization with the PEO (Professional Engineers of Ontario) and APEGM (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba) with over 30 years of industrial training and experience in the industry sector, agricultural sector, educational sector (post-secondary and trades), government sector (renewable energies) and private consulting – (The Elite Engineering Group Inc., P & L Holdings Ltd.).

He is presently a full-time professor at Mohawk College and a sessional professor at McMaster University, both located in Hamilton, Ontario. Louie is the first professional engineer with a Ph.D. to carry a Maintenance Management Professional Designation through PEMAC (Plant Engineering & Maintenance Association of Canada) and is deemed as a “Building Envelop Expert” (Specialty in Engineering Litigation for Buildings). He is Program Coordinator for NDE/NDT, Manufacturing Research Specialist and Key Professor for Metal Casting through Mohawk College representing Canada.
