Description
Bridges need to be rehabilitated for causes such as deteriorations due to environmental effects, deficiencies in the original design or construction or the need to carry heavier vehicular loads. Those responsible for maintaining bridges need to keep abreast of the latest techniques available for assessing the condition of their structures, as well as the methods and techniques for repairing or strengthening them.

You will focus on the technical aspects of bridge rehabilitation, such as the use of bridge inspection equipment, condition survey procedures and the latest practical methods for repairing and strengthening existing bridges. The course will provide excellent exposure of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code.

  • FPP Composites For Bridge Infrastructure Rehabilitation: mechanics for flexural and shear, design consideration for flexural and shear

Rehabilitation of Steel and Composite Concrete-Steel Bridge Superstructures

Instructor

Khaled Sennah, P.Eng., P.E., FCSCE, FEIC

Khaled is a professor of structural engineering and chair of the Civil Engineering Department at Ryerson University.

He has over 27 years of research, teaching, and industrial experience in the area of structural engineering, with particular emphasis on bridges. Dr. Sennah has been a principal designer and co-designer on major multi-million dollar projects in the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.His core area of expertise, on which he has authored more than 100 publications, is the design, evaluation, retrofitting and rehabilitation of bridge infrastructure. Dr. Sennah is the recipient of the 2013 A.B. Sanderson Award from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering to recognize outstanding contributions by a civil engineer in the development and practice of structural engineering in Canada.
