Overview
This course is held online over 3 days on the following schedule (All times in Eastern Time Zone):
10:00 am to 3:00 pm Eastern
After participating in the course, you will be able to:
- have a detail knowledge about irrigation system equipment and components (sprinkler irrigation and micro-irrigation)
- have a basic understanding of irrigation system hydraulics and flow principles
- have a working knowledge of how to work with EPANET software
- have gained experience designing and applying EPANET to design to design an irrigation system
Description:
One of the most important aspects of farm and landscape design for those involved in the irrigation industry is design of an optimal irrigation system. From choosing the right layout, equipment and sprinklers/emitters to setting the amount of water, proper irrigation are essential. The main focus of this course is to provide necessary information for professional designing and operating sprinkler and micro irrigation systems for farm/landscape by calculating water requirement based on evapotraspiration, soil and plant root zone water storage capacity.
EPANET software is one of the interesting water distribution system modeling software package developed by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPANET is widely used to perform extended-period simulation of the hydraulic and water quality behavior within irrigation systems, which consist of pipes, nodes (junctions), pumps, valves, storage tanks, and reservoirs. This training course learn how to use EPANET for the hydraulic simulations of irrigation systems. During the course, design steps will be highlighted through several simple examples and the practical examples are illustrated to show how to apply the EPANET software into practice of pressurized irrigation systems.
Course Outline:
- Irrigation water requirement
- Master theory and application principles for hydraulic of pipes
- Introduction to EPANET
- Design of pressurized irrigation systems
- Practical considerations
Who Should Attend:
