Overview
This course is held online over 2 days on the following schedule (All times in Eastern Time Zone):
10 am to 6 pm Eastern
After participating in this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the design and function of Pressure Relieving Devices (PRDs): Grasp the fundamentals of how PRDs work and their importance in safety.
- Apply ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and ASME Pressure Piping Code requirements: Implement relevant ASME code requirements in your projects.
- Calculate valve capacity for various fluids: Accurately determine the capacity of valves for different types of fluids.
- Follow the main steps for the installation and inspection of PRDs: Learn the correct procedures for installing and inspecting PRDs.
- Make informed decisions on the repair and recalibration of PRDs: Decide when and how to repair and recalibrate PRDs to ensure their optimal performance.
Description
Pressure relief devices installed in pressurized equipment are critical for the prevention of catastrophic failures during overpressure conditions. These devices serve as a vital safeguard, ensuring the integrity of various pressurized systems by releasing excess pressure that could otherwise lead to equipment damage, explosions, and potentially severe safety hazards. The correct implementation and maintenance of these devices are essential to operational safety and efficiency across multiple industries, including chemical processing, oil and gas, and power generation.
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive review of the design, construction, installation, operation, inspection, and maintenance of pressure-relieving devices currently in use on all types of boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and piping systems. It aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage and maintain these critical safety components effectively. Additionally, this course will cover the relevant code requirements for pressure relief devices, as defined by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel (B&PV) Codes and ASME Piping Codes. Understanding these standards is crucial for ensuring compliance and safety in various industrial applications.
We will include several class workshops, providing hands-on experience through case studies and selected practical, real-world examples. These interactive sessions are designed to foster teamwork and collaborative problem-solving, allowing participants to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. By working through these examples in a team setting, attendees will develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and solutions associated with pressure relief devices, preparing them for real-world applications in their respective fields.
Who Should Attend
This course is tailored for engineers at all levels and technical personnel across various industries, including petrochemical, process, power, and more. It is ideal for mechanical engineers, process engineers, reliability engineers, and technical staff engaged in the operation, inspection, and maintenance of pressurized equipment.
Whether you are a seasoned professional or just starting your career, this course provides valuable insights and practical skills to enhance your expertise and ensure the safe management of pressurized systems.
