Overview

After participating in this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the steps to workplace mediation
  • Explore different styles of conflict
  • Use self-reflection questions to ask before engaging in conflict
  • Understand the different responses to conflict and when best to use them
  • Mediate confrontation
  • Use specific statements and tactics that elicit clarification, stop destructive behaviour, and generate solutions
  • Apply the skills learned in their own setting to resolve conflicts in the workplace

Description
This session explores the Conflict Resolution Process and the step to Workplace mediation. Participants will explore the different styles of conflict, how to recognize it, the reactions, and how best to communicate with each kind during the discord. Self-reflection questions to ask before engaging, understanding the different responses to conflict and when best to use them.

Finally, participants will receive steps to mediate confrontation and specific statements and tactics that elicit clarification, stop destructive behaviour, and generate solutions.

Objectives:

  • Understand the Conflict Resolution Process
  • Understand the steps to workplace mediation
  • Explore different styles of conflict
  • Learn how to recognize it, the reactions and how best to communicate during the discord
  • Learn self-reflection questions to ask before engaging in conflict
  • Understand the different responses to conflict and when best to use them
  • Learn steps to mediate the confrontation
  • Learn specific statements and tactics that elicit clarification, stop destructive behaviour, and generate solutions

Deliverables:

  • Interactive exercises and activities to practice recognizing and resolving different styles of conflict
  • Self-reflection questions to ask before engaging in conflict
  • A list of responses to conflict and when best to use them
  • A list of steps to mediate the confrontation
  • A list of specific statements and tactics that elicit clarification to stop destructive behaviour and generate solutions
  • A final evaluation or survey assessing the effectiveness of the course and the participant's ability to apply the skills learned in their own setting
  • An action plan to apply the steps and strategies learned in the course to resolve conflicts in their workplace.
