Description:

The building and infrastructure industry has had essentially stagnant, if not falling levels of productivity for the last 25 years. While there are many reasons, the slow adoption and implementation of digital technologies is significant. Processes and workflows have not taken advantage of digitization and remain costly. BIM looks to fix this technological gap and improve the efficiency of our industry. However, it is not as easy as purchasing Revit. There is a lot of nuance to understand and prepare for, and having that knowledge will allow for success. Learn how BIM is affecting the AEC industry and how you can leverage it to your advantage.

Instructor

Travis Van Clieaf

Serving the AEC industry since 2005, Travis Van Clieaf has worked with architects, engineers, manufacturers, and contractors to deliver training that supports in-house talent, and fosters a hands-on, simplified approach to software integration. A graduate of the Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Travis has carried forward the principles of innovative learning through the application of software and technology. Beginning his career in the building products manufacturing industry, working with insulated concrete forms, Travis became entrenched in building envelope specialties. After illustrating a design specification manual, and serving as an architectural technologist in British Columbia, Travis began working with industry professionals providing reprographic print and documentation solutions, which ultimately led to BIM implementation and training. Through working with two Autodesk resellers – one academic and one commercial – Travis continued to diversify his skillset and expertise, helping schools and businesses to effectively use BIM, 3D printing, and robotics. Now, Travis’ focus is on BIM implementation and software integration training for design and production process management. As a certified Autodesk Applications Specialist, Travis has provided architectural, interiors and structural BIM training to dozens of organizations. He served as a multi-discipline BIM Manager in an architectural/structural practice, and most recently with an architecture/interiors & mechanical engineering firm. Travis has been an active member of the Canadian BIM Council since 2017.
