Overview
This course is held online over 4 days on the following schedule (All times in Eastern Time Zone):
10:00 am to 2:30 pm Eastern
After participating in this course, you will be able to:
- Understand your role and responsibilities as a leader and how to establish the trust of your staff
- Recognize and use your DiSC style and understand the needs of others on your team
- Identify the behaviours associated with emotional Intelligence and understand how they can contribute to your leadership effectiveness
- Apply theories of leadership to understand why people will choose to follow you and stay motivated and retained in the organization
- Learn to support the building and effectiveness of teams
- Provide and receive valuable and helpful feedback to enhance performance and understanding of the challenges the team may face
Description
If you have recently been promoted to a supervisory or management position or want to sharpen your skills to become a more effective leader and manager, this course will help you master business basics by learning the language of leadership and management.
You will learn how to successfully transition from employee to manager and confidently take on the mantle of leadership and mentorship. You will learn the skills required to delegate responsibility and engage your employees on multiple levels. A large part of a manager’s job involves getting things done by others. This course will help you understand how to influence and direct other people’s performance and the ability to mentor them. Finally, you will learn how to get the most out of your team by understanding the different behaviour within it, building trust and resolving conflicts. In addition, you will discover an insight into your ability to lead your team to accomplish the mission.

The DiSC Tool used for this course is DiSC Classic 2.0 assessment
The DiSC individual profile will be included for students to review before class. This will provide students with better insight in their own behaviour, as well as self-awareness moving forward through the course material. In addition, the course is based on leadership improvement and soft skills. It is a requirement that every student has their own laptop/computer with their webcam activated for the duration of the course. Body language and visual clues are 50 % of how humans communicate, therefore these resources are required to establish maximum student participation. This will ensure a more beneficial learning experience for everyone!

Dr. Brian Dominguez is a Doctor of Applied and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (DSocSci), has a Master’s in Leadership, is certified in operations management, and holds a professional designation in production and inventory management (CPIM). Brian’s moto is: “learn and apply, learn and apply, learn and apply”. His strengths are: Learner, Achiever, Focus, Analytic, Input.
He has worked in diverse industries from research and education to seniors’ care, with significant experience in construction, manufacturing, and supply chain. As management consultants he works with business leaders to improve organizational performance, from strategy right down to operational performance metrics and process improvements.
The MDMOTO Group is their business and they follow a model called ARIA, which stands for Adventure, Research, Investing, and Advising.

Deyanira (Deya) Mendoza is a Chemical Engineer, certified as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in BC, and a certified and designated Project Management Professional (PMP). She is an award-winning mentor with EGBC and an alumna of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference 2022. Deya’s moto is: “making the impossible possible”. Her strengths are: Learner, Discipline, Responsibility, Harmony, and Maximizer.
