Tolerance Stack Analysis

This course can be customized and delivered to your team where and when it's convenient for you.

Online / On-site

OVERVIEW

Description

Description
Analysis of tolerance stacks varies widely. This webinar introduces the basic tools to create a common methodology for tolerance stack-ups, and ensure seamless documentation. Participants will create tolerance stacks for parts and assemblies that use traditional dimensioning and tolerancing using a tolerance stack spreadsheet. This simple, manual spreadsheet method produces an easily interpreted and checked documentation trail, and is easily adaptable to common electronic spreadsheet programs.

Learning Objectives

By connecting with this webinar you will be able to:

  • Perform and develop a tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Apply a common step-by-step methodology to tolerance stack analysis
  • Explain the difference between a worst-case stack and a statistical stack

Webinar Content

  • Introduction and tolerancing review
  • Tolerancing strategies
  • How to identify the stack path
  • The two-column stack spreadsheet
  • Entering dimensions into the spreadsheet
  • Examples for a part stack
  • Examples for an assembly stack
  • Statistical stack methods: root-sum-square, Monte Carlo

Target Audience
Engineers familiar with concepts and practices of proper dimensioning techniques, who are looking for a fundamental step-by-step process for determining unknown dimensions using a tolerance stack. A basic understanding of print reading is required.
